The new Arsenal midfielder, who is representing Switzerland at Euro 2016, looked back to his time at FC Basel for the greatest victory of his career, against the Red Devils
New Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has revealed the greatest win of his career – Basel’s 2-1 Champions League victory over Manchester United in 2011.
Xhaka, who represented his hometown club Basel before moving to Borussia Monchengladbach in 2012, was part of the side that drew 3-3 with the Red Devils at Old Trafford, before managing to win the return fixture in Switzerland.
United exited the competition as Basel headed through to the last-16 and the recent Gunners signing, who is representing Switzerland at Euro 2016, still has fond memories of the tie.

“I think [the best moment of my career] was a game against Manchester United for Basel,” he told Arsenal’s official website.
“We played in Manchester and drew 3-3, then we played at home and won 2-1 to knock them out and progress to the next round.
“It was big. Basel were a smaller club than Manchester United and to beat them 2-1 was a very nice moment.”
