Sunderland 1-3 Arsenal: Ramsey doubles up as Ozil impresses on debut

It’s three wins on the bounce for Arsenal, and two successive 3-1 victories on the road for a team who appeared inspired by the arrival of Mesut Ozil.

The German orchestrator offered more than just glimpses of what he can offer his new team as he set up Olivier Giroud’s opener and fourth league goal of the season early on.

Sunderland hit back and, after Laurent Koscielny’s lunge on Adam Johnson, were gifted the perfect chance to draw level from the penalty spot. Craig Gardner, just on from the bench, accepted the invitation emphatically.

But a new-found resilience and team spirit carried Arsenal through, with Aaron Ramsey, perhaps fittingly given his early season form, kept his cool in front of goal to steer home two neat finishes and seal a well-deserved three points for the visitors.
