The Bulgaria legend has slammed the Liga giants’ decision to offload the Chile international and feels he still had plenty to offer
Former Barcelona attacker Hristo Stoichkov has hit out at the Catalan giants over their decision to sell Alexis Sanchez to Arsenal.
The Chile international signed a long-term deal with the Premier League side on Thursday to complete his €40 million move, much to the dismay of Stoichkov.
The Bulgarian feels Alexis still had a role to play at the Camp Nou side and has slammed the club’s board of directors for their lack of football knowledge.
“Because of the people who don’t know anything about football, we have now sold one of the best players we had at Barca,” Stoichkov was quoted as saying by Marca.
“Barcelona’s policy has always been like this. They clearly don’t like great players.
“Alexis was the best player Barca had for his pace, determination and mentality.
“He always fights for every ball and works hard for the team. He can leave with his head held high. He is a decisive player, who never gives up.”
The 25-year-old netted 19 goals in 34 Liga appearances last term.
