
Nuno Espirito Santo refused to offer any insight into the rumours linking him with the Arsenal head coach role, insisting it would be ‘disrespectful’ while Unai Emery remains in charge of the Gunners.
The Spaniard has come under intense scrutiny from large sections of his own fanbase in recent weeks, with a dismal run of just six wins in 19 matches leading to calls for the 48-year-old to be relieved of his duties.
On the other hand, Santo has guided Wolves into fifth in the Premier League table, this despite leading the club through a Europa League campaign and failing to win any of their first six league matches.
Last season the then-newly promoted side defied to odds to secure a hugely impressive seventh place finish, which has led to suggestions that he is line for the Arsenal job should Emery be sacked.
He has responded to those suggestions, but refused to discuss the potential vacancy while the Spaniard remains at the helm.
“I think you know me well enough. You know I’m not going to answer about that. I’ll never mention an issue that’s not a reality,” he said, as quoted by The Athletic’s Tim Spiers
