The Dutch coach has dismissed suggestions of a rift with the Arsenal boss following heated exchanged between the two in his Tottenham days
Martin Jol has revealed that there is no rivalry between himself and Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger, claiming that the pair’s apparent antagonism towards each other was just a passing feature of his time in charge of Tottenham.
The Fulham manager was involved in several disagreements with the Frenchman, but has revealed that they have kept their cool since Jol moved to Craven Cottage.
He said: “I think Wenger and I only had one drink and that was in my Spurs time — it was at Highbury.
“Before the match managers always say after the match they will have a drink. That is a common phrase.
“I would say five out of 10 times the managers drink together.
“Sometimes you have to do stuff with the press or my staff are somewhere and you can’t go — or the boys are waiting.”
Meanwhile, Fulham can do a favour for Jol’s former club Tottenham if they manage to stop Arsenal from getting the win, with Tottenham hosting Manchester City tomorrow.
