Chelsea are set to do battle with Barcelona in Europe again after the two club’s youth sides were drawn together in the last 16 of the NextGen Series.
The Blues must travel to Spain to face the Catalan side, whom they memorably beat in the semi-finals of the Champions League last season, whilst the four other English teams remaining in the competition have also been handed away ties.
Arsenal will play last season’s champions Inter Milan in Italy, Liverpool face a trip to Portugal to meet Sporting, Aston Villa will go head-to-head with Dutch side Ajax and Tottenham must take on PSG in France.
NextGen Series co-founder Justin Andrews said of the draw: “There are eight very exciting fixtures which we are all looking forward to watching.
“I’m sure the players will relish the opportunity to pit themselves against some of the best young players in Europe for a chance in the NextGen quarter-finals.”
