The Danish defender has given Blues supporters reason to celebrate after defeating the Arsenal acquisition in the vote to be crowned the club’s best player of 2015-16
Chelsea loanee Andreas Christensen has earned the Blues a small victory over Arsenal… after beating new Gunners signing Granit Xhaka to Borussia Monchengladbach’s Player of the Year award!
The 20-year-old will stay at the club for a further season with a view to returning to Chelsea’s first team, though there is interest from Gladbach in making his short-term stay a permanent one.
Gladbach qualified for the Champions League in 2015-16 and the Blues academy graduate has now given fans of his parent club a reason to gloat to Gunners supporters.

Christensen has only previously played one game for Chelsea, against Shrewsbury Town in a 2-1 win, but he has reaped the rewards of his loan move, winning 51 per cent of the vote to Xhaka’s 15.
Several Chelsea fan Twitter pages encouraged their fans to get involved to ensure he won the vote over Xhaka, but Christensen also won the local newspaper’s award [Rheinische Post] – without any fan involvement!
