Cazorla tips Arsenal for trophy haul next season

The Spaniard is confident the Gunners can keep improving following their stunning end of season form that saw them secure Champions League football for the 16th consecutive season

Arsenal playmaker Santi Cazorla believes the club are on the cusp of ending their eight-year trophy drought and has backed Arsene Wenger’s side to push on and secure silverware next season.

The Gunners are moving quickly to strengthen ahead of the new campaign and are on the verge of sealing a move for Gonzalo Higuain having already activating Marouane Fellaini’s release clause.

Cazorla believes the future is looking bright for the north London outfit and sees no reason why the club cannot arrest the slide of recent years and challenge for honours following their stunning form in 2013.

“When the team does not win and we do not get the results we want, the collective confidence does drop a little and that is natural,” the Spain international was quoted in the Daily Star.

“Now we have put in a spectacular run-in and you can see the difference in mentality. We have great players. I am sure we will be a better team and improve.

“This season we hope we can be even better and win trophies and the supporters can enjoy it. That is what Arsenal really wants.”

Cazorla scored 12 goals and added a further 12 assists in his maiden season in the Premier League following his €19 million move from Malaga last summer.
