The Denmark international will get a chance to face some former team-mates when his current employers participate in this summer’s Emirates Cup
Arsenal have announced they will face Lyon, Villarreal and Wolfsburg in the 2015 Emirates Cup to be held in July at the Emirates Stadium.
The tournament has become a regular pre-season fixture for the Gunners, who will play Lyon on Saturday, July 25, after Villarreal and Wolfsburg open the tournament.
Lyon take on Villarreal the following day before the Gunners play the final game against Wolfsburg, which will offer former Gunners striker Nicklas Bendtner the opportunity to go up against some familiar faces.
“We are delighted to be able to confirm three leading European club teams for this year’s Emirates Cup,” Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis told the club’s official website.
“Lyon, Villarreal and Wolfsburg have some fantastic players and will all contribute to an entertaining weekend of football for our supporters.
“Lyon and Wolfsburg will also provide a good competitive challenge for our players as they prepare for the new season.
“Emirates have sponsored this tournament since 2007 and we thank them again for their long-standing commitment to Arsenal Football Club, and their support in helping to make this a great weekend of football each year.”
