Roma are keen to keep the 25-year-old after his season-long loan finishes but Per Mertesacker believes the goalkeeper still has a future in north London
Per Mertesacker claims the Arsenal players would like to see Wojciech Szczesny return to the club.
The 25-year-old joined Roma on a season-long loan in July after he lost his place as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper to Petr Cech.
The Serie A club are keen to keep Szczesny but Mertesacker believes the Poland international still has a future at the club.
“Wojciech wants to compete. I think he’s a good goalkeeper and he can still develop,” Mertesacker said in an interview with JD Sports.
“The team wants him back – that’s good for him.
“He’s shown great character already in this team and I think he has got a bright future.”
