Benrahma joined Brentford for just £1.5m from Nice in 2018, and enjoyed an eye-catching first season in English football, providing 14 assists – the most in the Championship.
As a result, this is not the first time that Benrahma has attracted interest from a top-tier side, and the Algerian international has made no secret of his desire to one day play in the top flight.
Speaking one week after the January transfer window shut, Benrahma said:
“My ambition is to play in the Premier League. But at the moment, I will continue and progress playing my football at Brentford.”
Benrahma’s Premier League dreams could yet be realised by Brentford, who currently sit fourth in the Championship after coming from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with playoff-chasing Blackburn last time out.
The Arsenal target was on the scoresheet from the penalty spot, taking his goal tally into double figures for the second season on the trot and leaving his side six points off Leeds in the automatic promotion places.
