Arsenal-Everton Betting Preview: Gunners to progress to last four

Arsene Wenger’s men host the Toffees at the Emirates and our tipster is backing the home side to pick up a morale-boosting victory

Arsenal and Everton meet in the FA Cup on Saturday with a spot at Wembley up for grabs for the winner. Roberto Martinez is looking to retain the trophy after winning the competition with Wigan Athletic last season, while Arsene Wenger is desperate to claim a first piece of silverware since their 2005 FA Cup success.

Arsenal come into this match after a disappointing result against Stoke City, which has left them four points off Chelsea at the top of the Premier League.

With Bayern Munich all but knocking them out of the Champions League, the FA Cup could be their only realistic hope of ending their title drought. Paddy Power price them at 3/4 (1.75) to win against Everton.

Martinez’s side have been impressive this season, currently sitting in sixth position in the league and easily qualifying for the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. The Toffees have overcome QPR, Stevenage and Swansea to reach this stage without being properly tested. However, with three away defeats in a row coming into this match, Everton will be looking to stop the rot. Paddy Power price them at 15/4 (4.75) to cause an upset. The same firm price the draw at 13/5 (3.60).

When these two sides met earlier this season at the Emirates in the league, a Mesut Ozil goal was cancelled out by Gerard Deulofeu six minutes from time. Paddy Power price the same scoreline at 6/1 (7.00).

With under 2.5 goals a tempting 10/11 (1.91) with Paddy Power, it’s worth prising your eyes away from this bet to look at Arsenal outright in this match.

The Gunners have had a tough route to this stage of the competition, having to overcome both Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool at home. They passed these tests with flying colours and expect them to do the same against Everton, who have struggled on the road in recent weeks.

The need for silverware is certain to spur the players and Wenger on, and the price of 3/4 (1.75) will rarely be found for Arsenal when playing at home, so it’s certainly worth taking advantage of.
