Arsenal defender Djourou interested in permanent Hannover switch, says agent

The 26-year-old centre-back has been on loan with the Bundesliga outfit since January having found his first-team opportunities at the Emirates Stadium limited

On-loan Arsenal defender Johan Djourou would be interested in completing a permanent switch to Hannover, his agent has claimed.

The 26-year-old joined the German side until the end of the season during the January transfer window, having made just two appearances in all competitions for Arsene Wenger’s side until that point.

And, with the Switzerland international featuring regularly for Mirko Slomka’s team since, his representative Marco Lichsteiner says Djourou could look to stay in the Bundesliga.

“Johan and his family are very comfortable at Hannover,” Lichsteiner told Bild.

“Johan fits well with the project. In the coming days, there will be a meeting with [Jörg] Schmadtke.

“Johan wants to have clarity over where he plays next season”

When asked whether Djourou would be willing to take a paycut in order to push the deal through, Lichsteiner hinted that footballing concerns could be prioritised.

He added: “It’s not just about money.”
