Drafted into the starting XI after Danny Welbeck’s injury, Yaya Sanogo sealed the perfect start when he finished through the legs of Roman Weidenfeller after 73 seconds, his first competitive goal for the Gunners.

Alexis Sanchez then curled a fine shot past the keeper from just outside the edge of the penalty area in the 57th minute and a composed Arsenal were able to hold off Dortmund’s attempts at a fightback thereafter.
