Crystal Palace Reportedly Join Race to Sign Arsenal Star Midfielder as Future Remains Uncertain

Crystal Palace are understood to be the latest club to have declared an interest in signing Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere this summer.

The player, who becomes a free agent this month, has so far failed to agree a new deal with the London side and is likely to leave the Emirates ahead of next season.

While some reports claim new Gunners boss Unai Emery has told the player he is no longer needed and could find a new club during the current window, other outlets are reporting that the former Paris Saint-Germain manager wants him to stay, albeit unable to guarantee him a regular starting berth in his squad.

Wilshere has been told that he will have to accept reduced wages if he wants to remain part of the club, but they’ve also offered performance-based incentives due to his injury history.

West Ham coach Manuel Pellegrini, who has come in as a replacement for David Moyes following the close of last season, is reportedly keen on signing the midfielder for the Olympic Stadium outfit, while Everton and Wolves are also described as having an interest.

According to the Mirror, though, Palace have also joined the race for the Arsenal man. Roy Hodgson worked with the player during his time as England boss and is believed to want a reunion at Selhurst Park.

Last week, Wilshere’s Instagram post suggested that he could have his heart set on making an exit this summer.

“There comes a time when you have to choose between turning the page and closing the book,” he wrote. But we will have to wait a bit to see what unfolds.

Fans Left Bemused as Ex-Man Utd Star Contradicts Himself in Analysis of Mesut Ozil

Arsenal playmaker Mesut Özil has once again had his work ethic questioned by the football media, with former Manchester United defender Phil Neville the latest to speak out on the Germany international.

Neville was part of the commentary team that covered Germany’s surprise defeat against Mexico on Sunday, where PSV Eindhoven hotshot Hirving Lozano scored the decisive goal just before half time.

The former United defender failed to win the hearts of Arsenal fans early in the match when he claimed that Özil prefers playing for the national team as they have a better squad, but Neville’s suggestion that the 29-year-old doesn’t work hard enough came under even more scrutiny during his analysis of Lozano’s goal.

Having previously claimed that Özil didn’t track back and help his defenders out enough, the 41-year-old pundit then suggested that the Germany star, who was on the edge of the six-yard box when Lozano scored, was at fault for Mexico’s winning goal.

It’s safe to say that Neville’s comments left more than a few fans on social media a little confused as to how the head coach of the England women’s team was able to talk his way onto the commentary team.

Not that it takes much to rustle a few feathers amongst football fans – and in particular Arsenal supporters – but Neville might just take the gold medal for the most contradictory analysis at the World Cup this summer.

Away from the tournament in Russia and some Arsenal fans have actually been calling for Özil’s time at the club to come to an end ahead of the new season, although a sale seems unlikely after the World Cup winner penned a new deal with the club last season.

German Reports Claim Arsenal Will Announce Signing of Leverkusen’s Bernd Leno Within 24 Hours

German goalkeeper Bernd Leno will be unveiled as Arsenal’s latest signing on Tuesday, according to Sportbild reporter Tobias Altschaffl.

The Bayer Leverkusen stopper was previously reported to be in negotiations with the London side, and it appears that the Gunners have wrapped things up, given the latest report.

“Bernd Leno will be presented after @ SPORTBILD info on tomorrow’s Tuesday as a new addition to Arsenal London”, Altschaffl tweeted on Monday.

Sky Sports repoter Dharmesh Solhekhol had also weighed in, claiming that the two sides were deep in talks, also speaking on the futures of current Arsenal keepers Petr Cech and David Ospina.

“They are in advanced talks we are told with the Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno,” he said.

“He was in the provisional German squad for the World Cup – four goalkeepers, he was the one to miss out.

“This does raise question marks over the futures of Petr Cech and David Ospina,” he said.

“Ospina and Cech are in the final years of their contracts, which is a big call as well.

“Would either of them want to stay if Leno comes in?”

German source Kicker are also claiming that the player will sign for the Gunners on Tuesday, with the two sides having agreed over a €25m fee with Leverkusen.

Kicker have reported that the player – who chose a Premier League move despite interest from Atletico Madrid and Napoli – will undergo his medical this Tuesday, after which he will put pen to paper on a five-year deal.

The Chronicle claim that Terpcou was enticed by the prospect of working under new head coach Unai Emery, who is making adjustments to his backroom staff as he prepares for his maiden season in English football.

The club also have Emiliano Martinez, who spent last season on loan at Getafe, as well as the likes of Macedonian stopper Dejan Iliev and Joao Virginia from Portugal. However, Arsenal have also released two young goalkeepers already this summer, with Ryan Huddart and Hugo Keto deemed surplus to requirements by the Gunners hierarchy.

The loss of Terpcou represents something of a blow for Newcastle, with manager Rafael Benitez unlikely to be pleased about losing a member of his backroom staff, albeit not one of the most pivotal ones.

Former Magpies keeper Steve Harper has been linked with the coaching position vacated by Terpcou, having previously coached the side’s reserve goalkeepers before leaving his post to begin a Sporting Director master’s degree at Manchester University.

Juventus had previously offered €15m for Golovin according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, but there has been no word over whether they are prepared to increase their bid.
