The 21-year-old has eyed maximum points from the club’s six remaining games as the Gunners look to finish in third spot – and is determined to hamper the Red Devils’ title charge

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is desperate to stop Manchester United reclaiming the Premier League title at the Emirates Stadium on April 28.

The league leaders need just seven points from their next three games to secure a record-breaking 20th title, with a draw against the Gunners potentially enough to start the celebrations.

Wilshere is keen to stop former Arsenal captain Robin van Persie and his new United team-mates from clinching the league crown on his own stomping ground, and knows a win would go some way to aiding their own end-of-season targets.

“We’ve got Everton now, which is big, a really important one, and if we win then we’re in a good position. But even then we’re definitely not over the line – we’ve got some tough games coming up.” he told reporters.

“Fulham away [on Saturday] will be tough, and then we’ve got Manchester United – we obviously don’t want them winning the league at Emirates, so we’ll be up for that.

“But I think we can get maximum points from our six games – we beat United here the season before last, so we know we’re capable of it.”

Wilshere is aiming for a maximum haul of points from now to the end of the season with the hope of finishing in third spot, but admits in the long run, the team should be challenging at the top.

“If we drop points, we drop points – we’ll just have to bounce back and go game by game.

“It’s great [to be third], especially considering the position we were in before. We’ve shown a lot of character. But while it’s good to look at now, we want to be better than that – we don’t want to be happy with third in the league.

“We’ve got great players, and want to be challenging for first and second. We’re happy with third, when you look at this season, but really we want to be higher.”
