Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has expressed his frustration at his lack of goals so far this season.

The England international has failed to score a Premier League goal so far this term – with his solitary campaign goal coming against Coventry City in the Capital One Cup.

Oxlade-Chamberlain notched four goals during his breakthrough 2011-12 season and is eager to better that return this year, but admits that the whole squad finding more consistency is more important.

“For me, I want to be getting more goals and more assists so I am always beating myself up when I don’t, like against Reading,” he told the London Evening Standard.

“But as long as the boys are winning, that is the main thing. For me, I will keep trying to do the right things on and off the ball. It is not just on the ball – working hard is important for my full-back Baccy [Sagna] or Carl [Jenkinson], whoever it is.

“I know I have got quite a good shot so when an opportunity comes about and I don’t hit the target or make the keeper work, I’m not a happy boy.

“I am always hard on myself and trying to push myself to do more and I’m sure the fans are doing that to me, too, as I’m finding out.

“I’m just going to keep plugging away, keep working hard in games and in training. But the main thing is that the boys are getting the results.”
