Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla believes team-mate Jack Wilshere has the potential to become a world class player.
The England international has recently returned to the Gunners’ first team having missed the entirety of last season with a series of injury issues.
And, despite admitting he did not know much about the 20-year-old prior to arriving at the club, the Spaniard has been impressed by Wilshere’s impact on the team.
“He has amazing potential,” Cazorla told the club’s official website.
“I did not know him well when I arrived because he was not at the training sessions due to his injury, and everyone was already talking about him, saying that when he returned, the team would improve, and that has been the case.
“Every day he is gaining more confidence, he is forgetting about the injury, and he is a key player that can influence the result in a game, and thus, we are all very happy to see him 100 per cent again.
“He was out for a long time and it was an injury that takes time to heal. It is always hard to come back from injury, especially if it is very long. You always have that fear up until you start getting your confidence back, and you start getting back to your old self, and he has done that quickly.”
The former Malaga man also had kind words for Tomas Rosicky, describing the Czech Republic international as “amazing”.
“I think that Rosicky is an amazing player, now I have started playing with him because he too has been through a long injury, and he is also a ‘Spanish’ type of player,” he added.
“He associates himself very well, and seeing the positions that we play in, we will understand each other very well, as we do every day during training, and I hope to enjoy many good moments with him on the pitch.”
