Arsenal wasted my time, slams Bendtner

The Denmark international has voiced his dismay with the way he was treated during his last year in north London

Wolfsburg striker Nicklas Bendtner has hit out at Arsenal over their decision not to allow him to leave in the summer of 2013.

The Denmark international returned to Arsenal ahead of the 2013-14 campaign after loan spells with Sunderland and Juventus, but made only nine Premier League appearances for the Gunners last term.

Bendtner has now revealed that he was desperate to leave Arsenal and could not understand the decision to deny him a transfer.

“It was a terrible situation. My last year at Arsenal was a waste of time,” Bendtner was quoted as saying by Tipsbladet.

“It was worthless that Arsenal did not allow me to leave.

“A club like Arsenal could easily have found someone else to play my role.

“They would have had no trouble finding a player who could do what they wanted me to do.”

Bendtner eventually left Arsenal after all in the summer of 2014, joining Wolfsburg on a free transfer.

He has so far netted two goals in 10 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit.
