Arsenal are ready to grant Ainsley Maitland-Niles his wish of joining Roma with a loan deal agreed in principle (Daily Mail, January 5); Maitland-Niles is close to finalising a loan move to Roma, with the 24-year-old potentially travelling to the Italian capital as early as December 5 (Sky Sports, December 4); Maitland-Niles has reportedly agreed personal terms with Roma (The Sun, December 30); an agreement that would see Maitland-Niles go to Roma on loan until the end of the season, is getting closer. Roma need reinforcements, but have not budgeted to spend big this January, so loans are the main option (Sky Sports News, December 28).
Brighton and Crystal Palace remain keen on Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah – and would like to sign him in this window if possible (The Sun, January 5); Bayer Leverkusen are keen to sign Nketiah on a pre-contract agreement (The Sun, January 2); Arsenal’s renewed interest in using Nketiah more frequently might not pay dividends with a January move to West Ham or Brighton still possible (Sun, December 24).

Sead Kolasinac is set to leave Arsenal, with Marseille interested in the defender whose contract expires in the summer (Daily Mail, January 4); Watford’s search for a centre-back has also seen them look at Kolasinac (Daily Telegraph, December 22).
Arsenal centre-back Harry Clarke is set to be shipped out on loan to Hibernian after he was recalled from his spell at Ross County (the Sun, January 4).
