Arsenal-Tottenham Betting Preview: Plenty of goals in store in the north London derby

Tim Sherwood has injected Spurs with a new attacking approach, and Al Hain-Cole expects this to result in a high-scoring FA Cup encounter against their rivals

The tie of the round takes place at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, as Arsenal take on Tottenham in the FA Cup third round.

The Gunners have won their last three consecutive home games against their north London rivals and are 5/6 (1.83) favourites with bet365 to come out on top in this one.

However, Tim Sherwood’s men will be in confident spirits after their 2-1 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford and are available at 10/3 (4.33) to secure another big victory here.

There have been no draws in any of the last five meetings between these sides, but you can get odds of 5/2 (3.50) on them forcing a replay with a stalemate this time out.

Sherwood was appointed with a view to improving not only the results at White Hart Lane, but also the football on display, which had been accused of being rather uninspiring under predecessor Andre Villas-Boas.

The new manager has not disappointed so for, seeing his side score 10 goals in five games since taking command after introducing a more open and attacking formation including the recalled Emmanuel Adebayor alongside Roberto Soldado up front.

Considering this attacking approach, it seems unlikely that we will see a tight tactical battle when he brings his Spurs side to the Emirates, to take on a team that have scored two goals in five of their last seven games in front of their own fans.

With this in mind, odds of 4/5 (1.80) are surely too good to pass up on over 2.5 goals being scored, in abet that would have paid out in nine of the visitors last 10 fixtures.

With four goals in five games, Adebayor has certainly made a major impact since being brought back in from the cold by Sherwood, and he is well worth backing at 13/5 (3.60) to score against his former team for the fourth time since leaving Arsenal.
