Arsenal-Man City Goalscorer Preview: Back Yaya to continue his prolific form

The Ivorian midfielder has more than made up for his misfiring strikers in recent weeks, and he provides excellent value to strike once again on Saturday

Having scored eight goals in their last two games, Manchester City will be looking to further enhance their goal difference when they take on an Arsenal team that conceded six against Chelsea just a week ago.

Despite starting Tuesday’s Manchester derby on the bench, Alvaro Negredo is bet365’s 9/2 (5.50) favourite to open the scoring and available at 5/4 (2.25) to score his first goal in 13.

However, having repaid Manuel Pellegrini’s faith by scoring twice against United, Edin Dzeko is surely set to retain his place in the starting line-up – unless Sergio Aguero is fit – and therefore represents better value at 13/2 (7.50) to break the deadlock, not to mention 15/8 (2.88) to strike anytime.

With his strikers failing to hit top form recently, Yaya Toure has picked up the slack with six goals in his last seven, and cannot be missed at 12/5 (3.40) to hit the back of the net for the 22nd time in an incredibly prolific season.

With David Silva 3/1 (4.00), Samir Nasri 3/1 (4.00) and even Fernandinho 9/2 (5.50) all proving goal threats in recent weeks, City are certainly not short of options in attack against a team they put six past at the Etihad back in December.

In contrast, Arsene Wenger has been forced to make to without Aaron Ramsey, Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil among others this season so will have been relieved to see Olivier Giroud find a fifth goal in 12 against Swansea last time out.

The Frenchman is his team’s top scorer this season and poses the greatest threat at 7/4 (2.75) to find the net, or 6/1 (7.00) to strike first.

Lukas Podolski looked to have turned the game around on Tuesday after coming off the bench to equalise against Swansea before setting up Giroud just a minute later, meaning he will be optimistic of starting on Saturday.

Having scored in big games against Bayern Munich and Liverpool recently, the German could be worth backing at 11/4 (3.75) to get on the score sheet once again.

Elsewhere, Wenger will be hoping the likes of Santi Cazorla 3/1 (4.00), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 7/2 (4.50) and Tomas Rosicky 5/1 (6.00) bring their shooting boots on what is sure to prove a tough afternoon against a Manchester City side who have now kept five consecutive clean sheets in the Premier League.
